DC-MPOA Server provides support for Multi-Protocol Over ATM (MPOA) Server, as defined by the ATM Forum MPOA V1.0 specification.

Functions and Features

DC-MPOA Server includes the following functions.

  • Auto-configuration by parameter retrieval from LAN Emulation Configuration Server (LECS)
  • Dynamic discovery of MPOA clients and servers using extended LANE Address Resolution Protocol
  • Support for multiple LANE Clients from a single MPOA Server instance
  • Support for the MPOA MIB (MPS Basic Compliance) and complementary tables from the NHRP MIB
  • Support for co-located MPC and MPS: one network device can support both an MPOA Server and an MPOA Client, although they cannot share the same LANE Client in version 1.0
  • Support for the Next Hop Resolution Protocol (NHRP) for communication with other MPOA Servers
    • UNI 3.0, 3.1, 4.0
    • LANE V2.0 LUNI
    • Multiprotocol encapsulation over AAL5 (IETF RFC 1483)
  • Support for shortcuts as an edge device (when used in conjunction with DC-MPOA Client)
  • Support for IPv4 and IPX protocols
