Data Connection's protocol software products all share a common architecture of flexibility and scale such that our technologies are used by a wide range of products and applications. For example Data Connection software is utilized by devices that range from small footprint, hand held devices all the way to core switch/router applications that handle billions of transactions per year.
Distribution
Data Connection's protocol stacks are architected to run in a variety of deployment models from single threaded to multi-threaded environments and single processor to multiprocessor architectures.
As an example, our IP routing products have the option to distribute multiple instances of DC-RTM, DC-CSPF, and/or DC-BGP components down to the line cards of a router thus reducing the load on the central processor, avoiding potential processor bottlenecks, and reducing the traffic flow over the router's backplane. As discussed in the N-BASE section, these levels of distribution can be achieved without requiring changes to the core protocol code.
Maximizing Performance
Data Connection's portable operating environment, N-BASE, improves the memory and CPU performance of protocol code through efficient memory management and component scheduling. For more information on N-BASE and these mechanisms see Overview of N-BASE.
