Data Connection's VPLS Solution Selected By Extreme Networks for its BlackDiamond 10808 and 12800 Carrier Ethernet Switches

Data Connection Limited (DCL), the world's leading independent provider of communications protocol software, announced today that Extreme Networks® has leveraged DCL's protocol stack solutions to offer VPLS functionality on their BlackDiamond® 10808 and BlackDiamond 12800 Carrier Ethernet switches. VPLS is a significant technology enhancement benefitting service provider customers that are seeking cost-effective Ethernet transport.
Data Connection's DC-LDP protocol stack, with its IETF compliance to a wide range of service extensions, enables Extreme Networks to offer VPLS services, and also a migration path to next generation PBB-TE services through their PBB-TE to VPLS gateway capability. Extreme Networks has also integrated Data Connection's DC-RSVP-TE software to provide traffic engineered MPLS tunnels for the VPLS services.
Extreme Networks selected Data Connection's VPLS solutions after evaluating them against a challenging set of requirements including
