Connection Oriented Ethernet Player, Gridpoint Systems, Increases System Availability with Data Connection Software

Las Vegas, NV: June 17, 2008. Data Connection Limited (DCL), the world's leading independent provider of communications protocol software, announced today at NXTcomm08 (DCL Booth #SU5323) that Gridpoint Systems is utilizing Data Connection's Configuration Safe Store (DC-CSS) software toolkit. DC-CSS is source code designed for communication equipment providers that facilitates flexible and reliable management of system configuration information.

DC-CSS has been integrated on Gridpoint's 3400 Intelligent Metro Edge Node, enabling operators to store multiple revisions of system configuration information to file, from where the revisions can be manually or automatically retrieved. This functionality provides the foundation for high availability features such as graceful restart and hitless software upgrades / downgrades. Developers also benefit from the value-add features that are included, such as intelligent failover, inter-object dependency resolution, and offline file and version converters.

"The bottom line is that the 3400 is a more reliable and robust system with Data Connection's DC-CSS product," said Chris Barrett, development director at Gridpoint Systems. "In the event of a failure, such as a power outage, system configuration information is automatically retrieved from our offline database, enabling rapid system recovery."

DC-CSS is extremely flexible in that it can utilize the tight integration with DCL's portable IP Routing and MPLS protocols solutions to manage configuration information or it can be used to support non-DCL products, as is the case with current application at Gridpoint.
