Data Connection and QNX Software Systems
To address the demand for proven, off-the-shelf networking solutions, Data Connection and QNX Software Systems have partnered to provide a fully integrated networking platform. This platform provides a comprehensive suite of Data Connection's networking protocols combined with the QNX® Neutrino® Real Time Operating System (RTOS).
The networking platform includes:
- Scalability: Both companies offer highly modular, scalable architectures.
Taken together, the platform delivers developers with a cohesive solution
for next generation network equipment.
- Reliability: Both companies offer high availability frameworks that
allow system designers to build true fault tolerant systems and self-healing
network elements.
- Time to Market: With a pre-integrated solution, developers
will not waste time and effort porting protocols and operating systems. This
greatly reduces cost and has the added benefit of eliminating the uncertainties
and risks associated with scheduling porting work.
- Evaluation System: Engineering teams from both companies have collaborated to create a Router-in-a-Box CD for evaluation and demonstration purposes. This self-booting CD supports Data Connection's routing and VPN technology with the QNX Neutrino RTOS and is available from either company.
Joint Development
Data Connection's Router-in-a-box CD is available with full integration of the QNX Neutrino RTOS and includes all of the following:
- DC-OPSF, DC-ISIS, DC-RIP, DC-BGP, & DC-VPN Manager (RFC 2547)
- Full control plane support
- QNX Neutrino RTOS
- Integration with QNX forwarding table
- CLI & GUI support
- Full router manual documentation.
The CD, which is bootable from a standard PC, creates a functional router with active control and data planes (if physical Ethernet ports are available). This allows users to perform a wide range of evaluation procedures on Data Connection's routing code. For example the router can be connected to other routers and/or test equipment to evaluate interoperability and protocol/feature support.
